Saturday Hikes

Unless otherwise specified, breakfast is at 8:00 AM at the restaurant listed and hikes begin at 9:00 AM. Wear clothing in layers suitable for the weather. Trails may be icy, wear appropriate footwear (i.e. crampons). Hike leaders may refuse participation by unprepared hikers. If at least four inches of snow are on the ground the hike may be replaced by cross-country skiing or snow shoeing. Rain cancels. If in doubt about the conditions, contact the hike leader.

November 2: “Penwood Sideways” - Meet at Benny's, 562 Hopmeadow St, Simsbury, CT. Spot cars in Simsbury and start at La Salette Park in Bloomfield, 130 Mountain Ave, Bloomfield, CT. November 9: “Peaked Mt.” - Meet at Beth & Deb's Family Dining, on (Route 32), 107 Main St, Monson, MA for breakfast. Hike the Miller Forest Tract of Peaked Mt. located off of Butler Rd., Monson, then hike the last part of the Peaked Mt. trail located about a mile up the Rd. Dog Friendly. November 16: “Tekoa Mt.” - Meet at Friendly’s on (Route 202), 21 Southampton Rd, Westfield, MA for breakfast. Hike Tekoa Mt. start off of Reservoir Rd., about 5.0 miles. Agile Dog Friendly, some parts are very steep. Leader: James DeSellier (413) 297-3880 or jdesellier@lenard-eng.com

November 23: “Quabbin Trails Hike” - Meet at Almeida’s Country Cafe, 146 State St. (Route 202) Belchertown, MA. Hike from the Quabbin Visitor’s Center Parking lot, 1st entrance off Rt 9, Belchertown. Hike to the Quabbin Tower.  NO DOGS. Leader: Betty Siwinski (413) 427-6095 or bettrad@msn.com.

November 30: “Keystone Arches” - Meet at Friendly’s on (Route 202), 21 Southampton Rd, Westfield, MA for breakfast, then carpool to the trailhead. Hike the Keystone Arch Trail in Chester, MA. Dog Friendly. Leader: Kerry Goguen (413) 525-4029 or Dyna309@charter.net

January 11: “Northfield Mountain” - Meet at the Wagon Wheel, 39 French King Hwy, Gill, MA for breakfast. Hike (Snowshoes, if snow) micro-spikes are a must if hiking. January 18: “Northwest Park” – Meet at Dom's Broad St Eatery, 330 Broad St, Windsor, CT.  for breakfast. Hike Northwest Park, 145 Lang Road, Windsor, CT.  January 25: “Toby Mt.” - Meet at Bridge Side Grill (RT. 116), 9 Amherst Rd, Sunderland, MA 01375 (RT. 116) for breakfast, Then at 9:00 carpool to MT Toby, Reservation Rd (RT 47N), Sunderland, MA. Moderately strenuous long hike with steep climb to summit 3 hours.  Snowshoes or XC ski if there is snow. Wear appropriate footwear, micro spikes, hiking poles and clothing for the weather conditions.  Snacks and water recommended. Dog Friendly.
