Hiking Schedules

November thru March

RULES FOR ALL RIDERS
Riders must correctly wear an approved helmet, have a bicycle in good mechanical condition and follow sound rules of safety. Remember, your conduct as an individual reflects that of the entire club. Bring fluids and snacks according to your needs. Protect yourself with sunscreen.  We welcome Non-club members on our riders but they must sign a "Release Form."
Rain or bad weather cancels. (if the roads look like they are drying, we usually ride) Check with the ride leader if in doubt.
Note: Rides leave promptly at the time listed in the bulletin. Please arrive a few minutes early to allow time to get ready to depart.
The Wednesday and  Saturday Traditional rides are leisurely (10 - 13 mph average, 25 - 30 miles).  Sunday rides are the ride leader's choice and can be longer and at a more aggressive pace.  Rail Trail Rides are generally about 20 miles in length at a leisurely pace, and are confined to area rail trails. These rides are popular with cyclists who are not comfortable riding on the road.

The club has recently formed a new group for those interested in more  aggressive rides, (13 - 17 mph average depending on hills and around 35 to 45 miles)  These rides are not posted.  Members communicate by group email.  For those interested in riding with this group, contact spfldcyclonauts@gmail.com to be added to the email list.

RULES FOR ALL HIKERS
Pre-hike breakfasts are at the discretion of the hike leader. Please do not attend breakfast if you are not feeling well. Masks are recommended when car spotting is required.  Wear clothing in layers suitable for the weather. Trails may be icy, wear appropriate footwear (i.e. traction aids). We welcome non-club members on our hikes, but they must sign a "release form." Hike leaders may refuse participation by unprepared hikers. If at least four inches of snow are on the ground the hike may be replaced by cross-country skiing or snow showing. Rain cancels. If in doubt about the conditions, contact the hike leader.
